Who is Nielsen?
Have you ever wondered who influences which shows, programs, and products get made? The answer is people like you. For more than 75 years, Nielsen has been turning to everyday people to find out what they like to watch, listen to, click on and cheer for. We are a leading provider of media and marketing research, including the Nielsen TV ratings. As a global research company, we use what we learn to help companies connect you to more of the media you love.
What are the Nielsen ratings?
A rating is the number of people who watched or listened to a show or an ad. Ratings information is used by advertisers, and media companies to learn who is watching what programs across the US. Based on the ratings, Nielsen shares the top TV and streaming programs each week. They also share how many people tuned into specific programs or events like the Super Bowl or World Cup.
Why is Hispanic representation important to Nielsen?
We are committed to fully representing the U.S. populationโs ethnic and cultural diversity in the ratings. Nielsen needs people of all backgrounds to participate, including members of Hispanic communities across the country, to create the most complete picture of TV viewing, streaming and radio listening in the U.S. Each person that takes part makes the ratings more accurate. So, no matter how often you watch TV, what programs you watch or what language you watch them in, you can help to make sure that Hispanics are represented in the ratings.
